Artist Statement:
Sophie Schoenberg is a female and queer visual artists and documentary Photographer, who works mostly with topics involving how our society functions. Her main interests are within Feminism, Communities, Mental and Physical Care and Fashion. She generally enjoys observing her environment and portraying reality in its current state rather than staging images.
Within her research approach Sophie questions gaps and structures within our society and tries to find “hidden meanings”. Aiming to show these aspects through an artistic and visual approach that can be understood in a more accessible way.
Mentioning accessibility: especially working with social topics she believes that it is very important to include a broader way of understanding.
Her goal is to create awareness and to make people question their own perception and knowledge. Within her approach she does not aim to directly form somebodies opinions, but rather give people the space to learn or explore a new or old subject while forming their own insights.
